Dean now a naturalized kiwi was born in Cape Town to English parents. He grew up with a father passionate about his country (South Africa), its wines and the Braai (BBQ cooked over wood). Let’s just say he passed on a tremendous enthusiasm for – red meat, red wine and “doing it yourself “- to his son.
Dean trained first as a chef and was contracted to the South African navy for a number of years before he owned his own restaurant in Cape Town, “Nero’s”- Wood fired pizza and steaks. He later trained as a Mechanical Engineer in Christchurch where we met in 1999. In his last “paid” job Dean worked as a Marine Engineer in Guernsey before we returned to Otago in 2005
Dean is now very much a New Zealander passionate about his family, his wine and his property with all its many and varied projects. the latest of which is building our winery and gaining skills as our winemaker.
